June Gloom.

Hey folks,

I’ve been getting a bit of work done lately, and here’s the latest update:

June Gloom.

I was lucky enough to have my design picked by SmashingMagazine.com in their monthly calendar wallpaper post (4th one down from the top).

I think a lot of the other designs in that post sort of blow mine out of the water. I’m stoked just to be associated with a group of such amazingly talented designers.

As for the design itself,

This is a picture I took last year from my apartment. I was planning on doing a photo of each season through the same window, and creating some sort of design around it, but I just never found the time. As I was trying to create a calendar to submit to SmashingMagazine, I thought I’d try and salvage the image.

Here’s the original shot:

Thanks for stopping by!

I just picked your wallpaper up for June (I always pick one from Smashing Magazine, it’s a monthly tradition). Just wanted to say great wallpaper and very inspiring Bio – I had much the same encounter with “Higher Education”.

Good luck, and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the support and kind words Jordan!

Sometimes life can take us down some unexpected detours before we end up back on the right track. I hope your situation was only a minor roadblock for you to bypass.

Best of luck to you as well!

Great wallpaper! It paints a picture of California that not many would expect; the cold overcast months of May and June.

Thanks, and so true! Although, the “June Gloom” hasn’t really hit yet. It was so bad last year it lasted the entire summer and was properly dubbed the Bummer Summer of 2010.

This is wonderful and colorful. It depicts a perfect June Gloom mood. I love the fact that you took this photo and saved it in your files for a later use.
