“30,000? Is that all?”

D23 is approaching.

Normally I wouldn’t really care (sorry die-hard Disney fans), but this year something magical has happened. By magical, I mean that I’ve been given the opportunity to create an ad to be placed in the coveted D23 Expo Guide Book. Now, if I’m not mistaken, this is only the second expo Disney has put on. I believe the last one was in 2009, where it was reported that over 30,000 people attended the 4 day wonderland adventure. 30,000? Is that all? *feints*

So… this should be an amazing opportunity that I am ecstatic and thrilled to be doing, right? I mean, my ad could be placed next to Disney’s newest upcoming movie, or maybe next to my favorite TV show like Modern Family…

Well, you can call me the most ungrateful, idiotic, brainless designer you’ve ever had the unpleasant misfortune of reading about, but this whole thing makes me sick.

Not only has this project been given to me at the absolute worse time, but the deadline for it is on June 10th. As luck would have it, that day happens to fall in the same week that EVERY project I’m currently working on is due. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough time in my current work day to finish the assignments I’ve already promised everyone else, so the only time for me to even think about creating this ad will have to be this weekend (hopefully my dog can take himself for a walk).

The sad part is, is that I thought I’d be clever and create this ad last weekend. I placed the main focus on one of our newest animals on exhibit this summer: our Arctic Fox—

And it got… Rejected.

So its back to the drawing board this weekend, where I’ll be praying that inspiration punches me in the face like it has so many other times.

Wish me luck!

Well, sometimes we all work better under pressure….and sometimes a pressure cooker of a moment brings out fantastic creativity. I think you are going to be surprised at what you produce!!
